Uttarakhand: Panchayat elections postponed again in the state, administrators appointed in other districts except Haridwar.

The three-tier Panchayat elections in the state have been postponed once again. District Magistrates have been appointed as administrators for district Panchayats, Sub-Divisional Magistrates for block Panchayats, and Assistant Development Officers for village Panchayats in the respective development blocks. The government has issued an order in this regard.

Administrators have been appointed in all districts of the state except Haridwar. The government stated in the issued order that the term of the administrators appointed in village Panchayats will end on May 27, 2025, for block Panchayats on May 29, 2025, and for district Panchayats on June 1, 2025. Due to unavoidable circumstances, the elections for village, block, and district Panchayats could not be conducted before the expiration of the administrators' term.

In this context, administrators have been appointed to manage the administrative system of the Panchayats in the interest of work and public welfare until new Panchayats are formed or until July 31, 2025, whichever comes first. Departmental Secretary Chandraesh Kumar stated in the issued order that the remaining conditions of the previously issued notifications regarding the appointment of administrators in the three-tier Panchayats of the state, except for Haridwar, will remain unchanged.
